Janis, a character in the Across the Void series, is Kepler's mom. She is first seen in Chapter 7.
Appearance
Janies has black hair with red streaks curled up in a bun, red eyes, and dark skin. Like her daughter, she has Lektra tattoos on her chest and arms. She wears a short-sleeve bordeaux top.
Personality
As the Guardian of the Temple of the Goddess Kasia on Lektra, she is serious about who she allows to walk the path.

- Janis was confirmed to be part of the Lektra alien race in Book 1, Chapter 7.
- In keeping with the astronomy naming theme of the series, Janis is named after Jānis Ikaunieks (1912-1969), a Latvian astronomer who studied red giants and carbon stars, founded the Latvian Astronomical Society, and was the namesake of the asteroid 284984 Ikaunieks.
